EAST GIPPSLAND BUILDING COMMUNIT RESILIENCE PROJECT
Resilient communities are those with trusted local networks existing within healthy social, economic and environmental conditions.
Resilient communities can better prepare for emergencies, minimising personal and public trauma, environmental damage and costs.
Three stages of the project
1. To invest in engaging with communities and agencies to map the current situation in each locality.
2. To increase resilience using a study circle approach, undertaking an activity and evaluating the impact.
3. To develop an on-line resource sharing, experiences, resources and strategies for engagement. this will be an active format that communities can continue to access, input new material and showcase current situations.
It is within communities that the complexity of an issue can be best understood.
The East Gippsland Building Community Resilience project ended in October 2015. The final report from the project manager can be found here
